Winter is when interest in Scandinavia peaks—whether it’s hunting the Northern Lights, meeting Santa in a snow-filled wonderland, sledding with huskies, witnessing majestic frozen fjords or just experiencing the stillness and peace of fairytale white forest, there’s so much on offer. We’ve developed experiences like this and many, many more.
So whether you want everything taken care of with a guided tour, or you’d prefer to make your own way on a self-drive discovery, our Scandinavian winter tours will leave you spellbound.
Whilst Denmark, Norway and Sweden are traditionally considered the true Scandinavian region, Iceland and Finland are also often included in the term. With so many destinations and such diversity on offer, one of your biggest challenges will be deciding which countries to experience. Why not all of them?

Winter travel in Scandinavia is ideal from November through to March. Because Scandinavia is so far North and so close to the Arctic Circle, the winter season is quite prolonged.
Yes, these itineraries are sensational for family winter holidays in Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Finland or Lapland. Whether you’re the kind of family that likes to jump onto snowmobiles and travel full-throttle, or you prefer a gentler pace, we can curate the perfect trip for you.
You need to pack for temperatures well below minus 10 and even minus 20. An ordinary winter coat for Australia’s climate won’t suffice in these Northern Hemisphere conditions. You require a waterproof and windproof thermal coat designed for Arctic conditions. Protective, warm headwear that extends over your ears is also a must.
In addition to scarves, some people also like to pack bandanas to tie around their faces to better protect their lungs from the cold air. Full-fingered waterproof gloves and socks are also a must. In terms of footwear, aim for winter boots with a strong grip on the sole and quality insulation within. You may also want to purchase clip-on grippers that can go over your soles, providing reinforced protection against slippery ice or wet surfaces.
What you wear underneath is also important. The trick is to rely on layers, as you very quickly need to remove garments once you’re inside (Scandis really know how to heat their buildings!).
We know witnessing the aurora borealis is high on your agenda. Whilst we do everything we can to accommodate this, like every business, we are still beholden to the weather. That said, we go to great lengths to ensure your experience is rich, unique and unforgettable. Whatever the weather does, you will love this adventure!
Yes, absolutely; we cater to various dietary requirements and food preferences. Please just be sure to let us know when you make your booking.
