DAY 2 Reykjavik – Borgarnes - Akureyri
Travel west along the scenic Hvalfjörður fjord and the town of Borgarnes. Here you can opt to take an easy hike up Grábrók volcano crater for aerial views over the green lava field. Then travel further to the turf church of Víðimýri and then onto Akureyri. B

DAY 3 Akureyri – Myvatn
Explore Akureyri, where a simple walk along its lively streets will offer panoramic views over the Eyjafjörður fjord. Travel to the magnificent Godafoss waterfall en route to the Lake Myvatn area, a microcosm of Iceland’s natural wonders: from bubbling mud pools and geothermal caves, to powerful waterfalls. End the afternoon relaxing in the geothermal Myvatn Nature Baths. Tonight, step into the darkness to search for the Northern Lights. B

DAY 4 Myvatn – Egilsstadir
In the morning walk the lava labyrinth at Dimmuborgir “the dark castles”, hoping to get a glimpse of the trolls who are said to live there. Later today, you will visit the hot spring area of Namaskard with its bubbling mud pools and steaming
solfataras. Lastly, travel through the uninhabited highlands and moon-like landscapes to reach East Iceland. B

DAY 5 Egilsstadir – Hofn
It’s a day to admire the dramatic fjord landscape and its tiny fishing villages in the East Fjords and en route visit an interesting stone and mineral collection. In the afternoon see Vatnajokull – Europe’s biggest glacier that is visible
all over Southeast Iceland. This is a wonderful location to hunt for the dancing lights. B

DAY 6 Hofn – Vatnajokull – Vik - Hvolsvollur
Your first stop is Jokulsarlon, a glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs, where you can explore this extraordinary site
and maybe see seals swimming in arctic waters. Then spend time in Vatnajokull, home to Europe’s largest national park. This afternoon, head across the Eldhraun lava field and the sandy desert of the south coast to Vik, where you can stroll along the black lava beach of Reynisfjara and visit the Skogafoss waterfall. In the evening continue your search of the Auroras in this remote and quiet region. B

DAY 7 Hvolsvollur – Golden Circle – Reykjavik
Explore Iceland’s classic highlights on a journey around the famous Golden Circle. Start the day with a visit to Friðheimar to learn about the Icelandic horse and its special qualities. Continue to the active geothermal fields of Geysir with its variety of hot springs and bubbling pools. The original geyser is now dormant but has been replaced by Strokkur “the Churn” which erupts at 5-10 minute intervals. Also visit to the iconic golden falls of Gulfoss followed by Thingvellir National Park . Return to Reykjavik and enjoy a city tour to show highlights of the world’s northernmost capital. B
