DAY 1 Reykjavik
Your tour commences with an optional arrival transfer to your hotel. After check-in at your hotel, it will be your first opportunity to explore Reykjavik, the largest municipality of Iceland and the most northerly capital in the world.

DAY 2 Reykjavik - Golden Circle - Vik
Start the day by visiting the fascinating Aurora Reykjavik Northern Lights Centre. You’ll get a great introduction to northern lights, how they are formed and the folklore surrounding them. Continue to the dramatic two-tiered Gullfoss Waterfall, a spectacular sight in winter when frozen mid cascade. Visit the geothermal fields of Geysir with bubbling mud pools and the high spouting Strokkur hot spring. Go on with your journey and stop at the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, a “must-see” for photographers. If trail conditions are right, you may be able to walk behind the ribbon like Seljalandsfoss falls. Next, head to Dyrholaey - a 120-metre promenade famed for its staggering views of Iceland's South Coast, and then to the black sand beaches before arriving to the village of Vik where you will stay for the night.

DAY 3 Vik - Vatnajokull National Park - Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon - Hofn
Continue your journey along the Ring Road. You’ll be visiting the southern area of Vatnajokull National Park, named after Europe’s largest glacier. The tour continues over Skeidararsandur Sands to Skaftafell, a beautiful glacial area within Vatnajokull National Park. Continue to the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon where icebergs begin their life after breaking off from the glacier.

DAY 4 Hofn - East Fjords - Egilsstadir
A day of scenic wonder awaits as you drive through Almannaskard Pass to Iceland's East Fjord region. Explore the striking scenery of towering mountains, dramatic sea cliffs and charming villages. Visit the tiny village of Breiddalsvik. Here, you’ll visit the local Beljandi microbrewery and sample some of the beer. You’ll meet one of the townsfolk and get a feel for life in a small town, as well as how great beer is made. The road next brings you to Egilsstadir town, located near Iceland’s largest forest. Enjoy a locally sourced dinner.

DAY 5 Egilsstadir - Lake Myvatn
Explore the vast emptiness of the highland desert plateau Modrudalsoraefi as you head towards Lake Myvatn. The Lake Myvatn area is a microcosm of all of Iceland's natural wonders; from bubbling mud pools and geothermal caves, powerful waterfalls, craters and a diverse birdlife. Highlights of the day include Dettifoss Waterfall, Europe's most powerful, and the Namaskard Pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colours, pseudo creaters at Skutustadir and the Laxa Salmon River.

DAY 6 Lake Myvatn - Akureyri - Siglufjordur
Start the day by exploring the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir. Visit the magnificent Godafoss Waterfall, one of the most important symbols of North Iceland. Continue to Akureyri, Iceland's colourful northern city with its charming buildings and beautiful views of the Eyjafjordur Fjord. Leaving Akureyri, you drive along the coastal roads of Eyjafjordur and the Troll Peninsula, with amazing views over the Arctic Sea and black sand coastline. Arrive in Siglufjordur, located on the beautiful fjord of the same name, and admire some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. Next destination will be the award-winning Herring-Era Maritime Museum, which details the country's rich history of herring fishery and processing. Afterwards, head along majestic mountains and narrow passes to Skagafjordur, considered to be one of the finest places in Iceland for horse breeding.

DAY 7 Siglufjordur - Borganes
This morning drive through the majestic mountains and narrow passes to Skagafjordur, considered one of Iceland's finest places to breed horses. Enjoy an introduction to the unique Icelandic horse breed with its special fifth gate, the tolt. Continue towards the village of Blonduos built on both sides of the Blanda River and its gem, the Hrutey Island, a protected nature reserve, being the habitat of geese and many other species. Cross the Holtavorduheidi plateau through Borgarfjordur to the beautiful town of Borgarnes to finish your day.

DAY 8 Borganes - Thingvellir - Reykjavik
Explore more of Iceland's amazing natural wonders as you return to Reykjavik. Along the way visit Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe, the beautiful Hraunfossar Waterfallls and Lake Thingvallavatn in Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO listed national park is the location of the founding place of the world's oldest parliamentary government, from the 10th century, and is the place where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. Farewell your guide this evening as you arrive back in the capital.

DAY 9 Reykjavik
Your tour concludes with an optional departures transfer for your onward journey.
