Magic of the Fjords + Stockholm

DAY 1 Bergen
Welcome to Bergen, gateway to the stunning Norwegian Fjords. On arrival please make your own way to your hotel. The balance of your day is free for you to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city, we recommend a visit to Bryggen wharf, the fish market or take the funicular to Mt Floyen for spectacular views of Bergen and the surrounds. This evening, join your fellow tour members and guide at a welcome meeting.

DAY 2 Bergen
With the local guide enjoy a 2 hour walking tour of Bergen seeing the Hanseatic Bryggen, with the church of Mary, the Hakon Fortress and the famous fish market. Afterwards you can visit the Fløibanen Funicular, which will take you on the top of the Mountain Fløyen, for spectacular view of the city. Or consider the following optional tour - Bergen Food Tour - Get up close and personal with "Bergen Style" dishes - soup, brown cheese, seafood, and reindeer in 3 hours

DAY 3 Bergen - Sognefjord - Balestrand
Early morning walk from your hotel to the Bergen port where you will embark on a cruise to Balestrand. Enjoy the views of Sognefjord, the King of Fjords and the longest and deepest in Norway. The cruise continues to the village of Balestrand where on arrival you will check in to your hotel for the next 2 nights.

DAY 4 Balestrand
Today is free for you to explore Balestrand at your own pace. There are several hikes in the area you can take from the village or it is also possible to join an optional excursion to Fjaerland**. On this trip take a scenic journey to the small village of Fjaerland passing tiny villages and waterfalls to reach the Supphellebreen and Boyabreen glaciers.

DAY 5 Balestrand - Flam - Oslo
Your journey on the Sognefjord continues today. The first part of the fjord, is called Aurlandsfjord, it is the 17km arm of the world’s second longest fjord, the Sognefjord (204km). It is considered to be one of the most picturesque fjords in the world. Upon arrival in Flam, where you will have some free time to discover this beautiful village before you depart aboard the famous Flamsbana - one of the steepest trainlines in the world, for Myrdal. From Myrdal you will board a regular rail service for your late night arrival in Oslo.

DAY 6 Oslo
This morning with your local guide depart for your private group 3hr city coach sightseeing tour of this vibrant capital city taking in such sights as the Frogner Park, with all sculptural Vigeland, the museum of Viking ships exhibiting three original Viking Age ships, the Royal Palace, City Hall and the Akershus Fortress.

DAY 7 Oslo - Stockholm
After breakfast and checkout of your hotel, you will take a walk to the train station. From here you will stay goodbye to your tour leader an travel on the highspeed rail to the capital city of Sweden, Stockholm. After walking to your hotel and checking in, the day is yours to explore the city. Why not walk the main Drottninggatan - Queen street for some shopping, or explore one of the best preserved old town of Europe - Gamla Stan.

DAY 8 Stockholm
You will be driven today to the port and taken on a Royal Canal cruise and learn about the city. Referred to as the "Venice of the north", seeing the city by the water is the best way to take in the 700 year old history. After the cruise, the time is free for you to explore the city more, and maybe visit some of the locations you saw from the water.
There is no return transfer after the cruise.

DAY 9 Stockholm
After breakfast and checkout of your hotel, your tour concludes for your onward journey.

Day 2: Floibanen Funicular Return Ticket & Food Tour Tasting Bergen Fish Market: Experience the city of Bergen with all your senses. This tour takes you through the history of Bergen and tastes of local food and it’s story. Learn about Bergen and the local food traditions and history from a local guide who will take you through the old part of the city and enjoy 5 stops with tasting experiences. Visit Bryggen, which is on UNESCO’s list of world heritage with a tasting in a small restaurant that used to be a public bath. The last stop will be a the oldest existing cellar in Norway with a special story accompanied by a small beer. Also visit the famous Fishmarket and another stop for a sweet surprise.

Day 4: Fjord & Glacier Tour to Fjaerland: Round-trip Balestrand-Fjærland, including Bøyabreen, Supphellebreen and a visit to the Norwegian Glacier Museum.Sail through the beautiful Fjærland fjord with amazing views of the steep mountains, the green fjord itself and vibrant landscape. Arrive at Fjærland, where the glacier meets the fjord. Here, you wil visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum and enjoy Ivo Caprino's panoramic film about Jostedalen Glacier and the fascinating exhibition.
The trip continues by coach to the two glaciers –Supphellebreen and Bøyabreen – before the coach takes you back to Fjærland. The full-day excursion concludes with a boat trip back to Hella/Balestrand. Coaches to the glaciers and museum entrance are included in the round-trip fare.
