DAY 2 Tromso - Camp Tamok - Tromso
Camp Tamok is located in the Tamok valley, a 75 minute drive from Tromso. An full day spent at Camp Tamok is an unforgettable experience in the Arctic wilderness of Norway. Upon arrival, you will be provided with warm winter clothing, boots and gear before you head out to meet an eager team of huskies waiting to take you on an exhilarating sledding adventure through the snowy terrain. As you mush, the excited dogs will run at full speed and the sled glides effortlessly over the snowdrifts with the skids hissing softly in the snow. Stop halfway for a photo break in the wilderness with the possibility to change drivers.

Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while warming yourself by the campfire inside the lavvu. During your free time between activities you can try out the snow slope and snowshoes, spend time with your guide who will share stories from the local area or you can relax in the camp with a good book. Before your evening activity you can try the traditional Norwegian way of grilling the sausages at the campfire.

Travel to Camp Tamok where the conditions in the beautiful Tamok valley are optimal for experiencing the Northern Lights.

This evening is reserved for chasing the Northern Lights. The Tamok Valley is the ideal setting to experience the Aurora Borealis as the camp is far removed from the bright city lights and situated in a drier climate zone producing many cloud-free night skies. After a presentation about the lights and how to photograph them you will be taken to different locations around the camp to observe the northern lights. When it is time to warm up by the open fire in the lavvu.

We also recommend taking the cable car to the top of Storsteinen Mountain for the best views over the island of Tromsoya and Kvaloya - one of the most popular experiences for visitors to do in Tromso.
