Arrive in Alta, Norway's 'Northern Lights City.' Your tour begins with an optional arrival transfer to your hotel. At a welcome meeting, meet your fellow travellers and Tour Director, before enjoying your first view of the spectacular Aurora Borealis on a Northern Lights Safari. The Northern Lights, nature's own light show, are solar winds that meet the atmosphere in a zone around the magnetic North Pole, forming arches, waves and curls of light moving across the sky.

Stay at Scandic Alta Hotel (4 star) or similar
Today you will visit the Alta Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to see and learn about the rock carvings found in the area. Exhibitions cover not just rock art but a wide range of themes including Sami pre-historic religion, the northern lights, and salmon fishing in the Alta River. This afternoon an optional tour to the Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel will be offered. Located on the banks of the Alta River, the Igloo Hotel covers 2,500 square metres and is the world’s most northern Igloo Hotel. The first hotel was built in 2000 and each year it is constructed differently, but still everything is made from snow and ice. B

Continue your tour along Norway’s Arctic fjords to Tromso, former starting point of many polar expeditions. Tromso is a city filled with culture, polar history and fresh locally sourced food in its numerous restaurants. Mountains, fjords and islands surround the city making it a perfect base for exploring the winter landscape. Free time today, before the your evening Northern Lights Safari, where a light dinner will be served, whilst searching for the spectacular, yet elusive, Northern Lights. B, Light Dinner

Stay at Clarion Hotel The Edge (4 star) or similar

The final full day of your tour is a free day to further explore Tromso, or you may join an optional tour such as a snowmobile safari or husky safari. B

Your Unique Northern Lights tour concludes with an optional departure transfer for your onward journey. B
