Land of the Fjords

DAY 1 Bergen
Welcome to Bergen, the gateway to the stunning Norwegian Fjords. After making your way to the hotel, your day is free to start exploring this brilliant city. Return later at 19.00hrs to meet your fellow travellers and guide in the hotel lobby for a short introduction.

DAY 2 Bergen - Sognefjord - Balestrand
After breakfast, enjoy a 2-hour city sightseeing tour of Bergen with a local guide, including a visit to the popular Fish and Flower Market, the famous Bryggen Harbour with its gabled packhouses, and the old Hanseatic Quarter. After this, go on a round-trip Bergen Funicular ride up to the top of Mount Floien where you can enjoy great views over the fjords and mountains surrounding the city of Bergen. Continue north by coach to Oppedal for the short ferry crossing to Lavik. Drive along Sognefjord up to the beautiful resort of Balestrand where you will stay.

DAY 3 Balestrand
Today is a free day in Balestrand, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the outstanding beauty and nature of the fjords. Relax on the hotel terrace and admire the spectacular views or wander around the village of Balestrand, with its historic buildings and other noteworthy sites. Perhaps, visit the local aquarium and art gallery or rent a bike. A walking tour of the village of Balestrand can also be arranged.

DAY 4 Balestrand - Jostedal Glacier - Loen
Depart Balestrand by ferry from Dragsvik to Hella, followed by a scenic tour along the northern side of the Sogn Fjord to Sogndal. The tour continues by road to Fjaerland, passing under the Jostedal Glacier, the largest in Europe, to the village of Skei at the northern end of beautiful Lake Jolster. Descend to the Nord Fjord, making a detour at Olden to visit the world-famous Briksdal Glacier. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant, before making the excursion up to the glacier by open cars – “Troll cars” - to the stand about 700 metres away from the glacier. Take a nice walk to the glacier, before returning by Troll cars. Return to Olden and arrive in Loen, a small village situated by the fjord, surrounded by majestic mountains and green hills, where you will go overnight.

DAY 5 Loen - Geiranger - Lillehammer
Breakfast at your hotel before departure by coach to Hellesylt. Embark on another scenic cruise from Hellesylt to Geiranger, on the Geirangerfjord - one of the narrowest fjords in Norway. Surrounded by deep blue water and green valleys, you will also see magnificent waterfalls such as the "Seven Sisters" and the "Bridal Veil". Discover the roads that twist and turn through one hairpin bend after another to Geiranger Skywalk, located on Mt. Dalsnibba to experience a panoramic view of one of the most scenically outstanding fjord areas on the planet (weather permitting). Your journey continues to Lom, before descending the magnificent Gudbrands Valley to the charming town of Lillehammer.

DAY 6 Lillehammer - Oslo
After breakfast, drive alongside Lake Mjosa, Norway’s largest lake, and arrive in Oslo, the capital, situated at the head of the Oslo Fjord. On your arrival, visit the Holmenkollen Ski Museum & Tower where you'll discover the world’s oldest ski museum, see exhibitions of the polar explorers and enjoy a great panoramic view of Oslo and the fjord. Drive back down to the city centre for check-in at your hotel.

DAY 7 Oslo
If you have free time in the morning, we recommend a stroll along Aker Brygge or through the new central city district Bjorvika. Otherwise, your tour concludes after breakfast with an optional departure transfer.
